How to convert a van

Pop tops

Firstly, we recommend having the pop top fitted before any other conversion works. As you can probably imagine this is a big job in terms of campervan conversion works. Pop tops require removing part of the roof which can be a messy job. It is always advisable to fit your pop top at the start of your conversion journey to ensure a clean finish, head height for other works and to factor in any electrical work like lighting that may be impacted by a pop top.

Pop top installation at the early stage of a conversion will also give you more freedom. It can give you the opportunity to travel in your camper whilst deciding on the remainder of your interior. Like renovating a house, sometimes “living in” can help you decide which fittings and appliances suit your lifestyle.

If you’re not sure about pop top installation, it can always happen at a later stage.

Check out our pop top page here.

Deadening, insulation and carpeting

After the pop top installation, we would recommend:

  • sound deadening
  • insulation
  • carpeting works
  • followed by window installation

For the best finish, we suggest having windows and lining works completed all at the same time. This allows the fitters to finish off the window installation to a high standard and achieve an OEM finish.

With so many window options available for all vehicles, whether you are looking for opening, fixed, barn door, tailgate etc, we have windows to suit all conversions.
