– For dog walkers, agility competitions, hoopers, dog shows and more
At The Dub Hut we are massive dog lovers! If you visit our offices, you will be warmly met by our resident office dogs – Vinnie, Ollie and Winnie.
Ryan, our workshop manager and pop-top specialist has a micro campervan. There’s nothing he loves more than taking his crazy Collie, Morgan with him on every holiday, spending time off-grid and just enjoying the British countryside… whilst attempting to keep Morgan entertained! They have some really lovely walks together.
Over the years we have worked on all kinds of dog-friendly vans. At times we have worked with professional dog walkers, agility super stars and security dog handlers to name a few. Of course, some people just want to be able to take their dog on holiday and ensure they have somewhere comfortable to sleep and travel. This is especially true if you have two or more dogs. Campervan logistics can be even more imaginative when you have 8+ muddy paws involved! I digress… we do love a challenge though!
What do your dogs need from a van?
When we convert a van to accommodate your dogs, we work with you closely and your ideas on knowing
- how your dog will travel while you’re on the move
- your dog’s size, breed and age
- the reason for the conversion
- sleeping/eating arrangements
- temperature control (like air-con and heating)
- storage solutions for all of that dog paraphenalia
- and proper light and ventilation
Dog Professionals
Dog walkers, security handlers and agility competitors often need something a bit special in their dog van. For these vehicles we often try hard to consider how long the animal will be in the vehicle and how to accommodate them for all weathers. As most sport dogs are desperate for air-con, that’s usually one of the first installations.
The previous dog conversions we have undertaken for the professional working dogs have been for customs, fire and rescue, and security.
We have even completed a dog campervan conversion for a beautiful local Cockapoo who is a regular visitor of care homes throughout Kent, keeping the smiles on the resident’s faces.
For those of our customers who wish to travel around the U.K. and Europe with their dog, (maybe you’re competing at dog agility, or keen to take them abroad for a holiday), The Dub Hut has a number of conversion processes to consider such as diet, routine, sleeping, layout, storage and safety for all passengers.
Making the most of your dog van space
Making the most of the space you have is a number one concern for any dog van. Not just for the dog, but also the gear that comes with them – food, toys, bedding, towels, coats and leads etc. They all take up valuable space and that needs careful planning behind it.
Many of our dog-friendly vans include a kitchen with a fridge for preparing and storing dog food. Kitchen pods or full camper kitchens can include optional features like a hob or sink.
If you’d dogs have a specific colour scheme for all of their accessories, why stop a their collars and leads? Some of our clients will also ensure the interior of their van matches too.
There are so many colours to choose from, our next dog vehicle conversion is having a bright orange kitchen which we are all very excited about.
Power supply for dog vans
We can install a full 12v leisure battery split charge system.
When accompanied with flexible solar panels on the top of your vehicle roof or pop top, this will keep you off grid, your fridge cold and lighting and phone charging facilities. Ideal if you’re between campsites or in the middle of nowhere!

Dog friendly van flooring
The flooring used for all dog vehicle conversions is the hard wearing Altro, which is R10 rated, non slip, this option provides our customers a solid base flooring with the added benefit of being able to sweep, wash and keep clean. Cleaning is one of many considerations, but also some dogs dont like a shiny floor. We always lean towards a matte finish for both the safety and comfort of your dog (and humans!)
Custom dog crates for vans
Our team are lucky enough to work directly with a number of bespoke crate manufacturers and can organise the sturdy, stainless steel dog crates to suit your exact measurements. We work closely with Syncworx Dog Crates and other brands to suit your van style and measurements.
We would love to help you convert your dog van. Give us a call or send a message. We operate an open door policy at our workshop – feel welcome to see us in person if you’re in the area!
